WATCH: Eddie Murphy talks returning to stand-up comedy on Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel brought his show back to Brooklyn for its annual string of east coast shows and brought on one of the most iconic faces in the comedy world, Eddie Murphy. Can you believe the Brooklyn native is 58 years old? The guy certainly doesn't look it!

Murphy chatted with Kimmel about hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time in 35 years as well as the impressive amount of buzz over his latest film, Dolemite Is My Name. The one thing that stood out to me with the interview is just how truly down-to-earth and genuine Murphy seems. He broke down his childhood growing up in the Bushwood part of Brooklyn, playing a more violent version of a scavenger hunt involving a belt (game is called "Hot Peas & Butter"), and riding the carnival rides at Coney Island at a young age. Did you know that Eddie Murphy dabbled in ventriloquism before getting into more straightforward forms of comedy? We definitely didn't!

Whether you know Eddie Murphy from Coming To America, Dr Dolittle, Shrek, or any other part of his legendary career, it's wonderful to see him continue to work and thrive!
