BTS is on top of the world right now with a massively successful new album (Map Of The Soul: 7), a recently announced stadium tour, and a slew of successful press appearances on some of the biggest shows on television. After taking over Today and then nailing a performance in the middle of Grand Central Terminal for Jimmy Fallon, the boys stopped by the Late Late Show with James Corden for a bit of Carpool Karaoke.
They got it all rolling with "Mic Drop" then Corden briefly chatted with RM regarding how he serves as a translator for his bandmates and how the group's de-facto leader/spokeperson managed to learn the new language by watching Friends on TV! The boys even jammed out to a bit of the iconic show's theme song before launching into a sweet singalong of Bruno Mars and Cardi B's "Finesse".
It was really cool to hear a primarily non-English-speaking group nail lyrics to a song that, frankly, I can't even memorize the lyrics to it even as a full-time radio dj! To the many folks out there who are quick to say "I can't understand what BTS is singing".. it's ok! Don't let that keep you from connecting with such an immensely talented and likeable group. They took the time to hear some of our biggest artists, so the least many of us can do is take the time to listen to some BTS and TRY learning what they're singing about. Great music is great music, regardless of language. Stellar choreography (as seen below) transcends language barriers.
As I said in yesterday's article, it's BTS' world and we are all just living in it!
