Christian Bale is finally crossing over into the Marvel universe! According to Entertainment Tonight, Bale has officially signed on to play the villain in the next Thor movie Thor: Love and Thunder starring Natalie Portman. The previous Thor movie Thor Ragnarok starred Cate Blanchett as the baddie, so it's wonderful to see the series consistently casting such strong talent in the villainous roles.
This is an especially fascinating decision considering Christian Bale was formerly a member of the DC Comics cinematic universe while he was portraying Batman (arguably better than anyone else) in Christopher Nolan's trilogy. Now that he's at least temporarily on team Marvel, it'll be fascinating to see his interactions on and offscreen with new castmates Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth!
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin filming this August with a reported release window in November 2021.
