Justin Bieber appeared as the musical guest on this past weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Issa Rae and he nailed his performance in every way possible! The Biebs sang two of his latest tracks, "Lonely" with Benny Blanco and "Holy", featuring Chance The Rapper.
"Holy" was the higher energy song and performance of the two and featured Bieber singing in front of an outdoor chapel set with Chance himself making an appearance.
Justin Bieber's performance of "Lonely" is what really got people talking though! Bieber begins by singing while staring into his dressing room mirror just like the music video. The Biebs eventually makes his way through empty backstage hallways and into the main SNL studio before belting out the rest of his new heartfelt hit under a lone spotlight. "Lonely" is one of those tracks that shows a much more vulnerable side of Justin Bieber, one where he admits to making many juvenile mistakes in his earlier years of fame while also driving home the oft-missed point that no amount of money or fame could fill the emptiness he felt as a child star who became a global name nearly overnight. If there's just one video you should watch today, it's the one of Bieber singing "Lonely" above. You can't get through it without tearing up a bit. I'll be the first to admit, younger me never really considered the mental and emotional stuggles Bieber went through as a child superstar who essentially made global news for every little mistake he made.
