American Idol Is Officially Back! (Video)

American Idol just left the airwaves last April and, after several weeks of speculation, the crew over on Good Morning America formally announced that the show is switching networks and coming to ABC next year! During it's original run on Fox, Idol winners went on to rake in 14 Grammy Awards, 2 Golden Globes, and even an Academy Award.

A host and judging panel haven't been announced yet. The other thing still up in the air is where the show will be filmed. Auditions take place all over the country (presenting a possible schedule conflict with Seacrest's new morning TV role) and then the live rounds are filmed in a massive soundstage that Fox used to lease at CBS Television City in the heart of Hollywood. ABC previously indicated that they'd like the show to move to NYC, possibly so its original host could return, but the show's head honchos over at Fremantle Media reportedly wanted it to stay in LA.

Who would you like to see host and judge the American Idol reboot? It's clear who Kelly Ripa wants!
