Binghamton Pond Festival Gets Refrigerated Rink

The Binghamton Pond Festival returns to Chenango Valley State Park over the next three weekends with a high tech upgrade for 2018.

According to event organizers, the outdoor hockey tournament will now be one of the only events of its kind in the nation featuring mechanical refrigeration. Thankfully,  this means that warm weather is much less likely to lead to game delays or cancellations.

A Fox 40 report identified Senator Fred Ackshar as the man with the plan that convinced NYS Parks Historical Preservation to free up the funds used to buy and install the new refrigerated ice surface.

Here's a weekend schedule for those of you heading to the park this month for some pond hockey!
