Netflix has revived a classic 90's Nickelodeon show by adapting it into a tv special. Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling. The special features the original main & recurring cast along and is centered around Rocko returning to Earth after 25 years in space. He and his friends (namely Heffer the steer and Filbert the turtle) are immediately shocked by the amount of technological change since they left, including the introduction of smartphones and 3D printing, something that made Rocko's old job entirely obsolete. All in all, Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling looks like the type of reboot that will satisfy fans of the show while also offering some tongue-in-cheek criticism of just how tech-obsessed many of us have become.
In a strange twist, Nickelodeon ended up offering the distribution rights to Netflix rather than air the special themselves. Thankfully, that means that we will be able to stream it starting August 9th!
