EA just announced a new Star Wars video game that will be centered around becoming the best starfighter pilot in either the Galactic Empire of the Rebellion. The announcement trailer depicts high-speed battles with fighters zipping through crevices and around asteroids while narrowly avoiding total destruction. The core of the game will be centered around flying as part of a 5 person squadron, though it is unclear whether or not there will be a single player or co-op campaign.
I can't wait to see and read more about Star Wars Squadrons! Hopefully there is still plenty of effort put into the worldbuilding and story aspects so that it will stand out from, say, space battles in the Star Wars Battlefront series with no interconnected plot.
