Disney made the MASSIVE announcement this morning that it would be changing one of its most popular theme park attractions permanently. Splash Mountain, which has been themed on the controversial Disney animated film Song Of The South, will now be pivoting to a Princess and the Frog theme.
Disney shed some light on the ride's updated story, posting "We pick up this story afterthe final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance."
It appears Imagineers felt that the New Orleans setting of the Princess and the Frog would fit well with the New Orleans Square area that Splash Mountain is adjacent to, though the ride is technically in the Critter Country section of the parks.
